Jerry completed his undergraduate research internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas and earned his BS biochemistry magna cum laude from Lee University in Tennessee. He received his master’s and PhD degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Rochester, New York, where he examined the mechanism of activation of proteins implicated in cancer and cardiovascular disease downstream of G protein coupled receptors. During his doctoral studies, Jerry was also a visiting researcher at the University of Michigan Pharmacology Department. Jerry joined Yale University as a Postdoctoral Associate, where he used advanced biochemical and biophysical approaches to study the mechanism of activation of receptor tyrosine kinases implicated in cancer. In 2020, as a Washington Policy Fellow of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, he advocated for younger scientists in the science talent pipeline and science funding policy priorities through published writings and meetings at the US Capitol. Jerry now serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Trends in Pharmacological Sciences.
